Today's joy is creativity.
Creativity showed up as I went through my day with different coaching sessions.
Most of my clients are stay-at-home mums who aim to return to work.
Some have been away from the workplace for 15, 12, or 7 years.
They all longed to go back to work, mainly as entrepreneurs.
Not only for financial reasons. But to have a different kind of creativity channel that isn't identified with being a mum.
And to be seen, heard, and acknowledged by peers.
At the same time, they had feared taking the first step.
And some comfort in the known and familiar Mum role.
They lacked the confidence that they once had in themselves. They had a fear of failure and doubted their capacities and skills.
Not only that, but they were comparing themselves with others.
And they were bathing in self-judgments.
Listening to them, I couldn't help but think we are constantly creating. Creativity is our middle name as Human Beings.
We cannot NOT create. And that's the joy of creativity.
When we tap into this knowing, we can relax into this inner experience.
We can allow and access a well of creativity that takes different shapes and forms.
Creativity is the tendency to generate or recognize ideas, alternatives, or possibilities that may be useful in solving problems, communicating with others, and entertaining ourselves and others. (as defined by the CSUN)
Stay-at-home mums are some of the most creative creatures I know. Especially that what they do isn't associated with 'real work.'
They are constantly seeking alternatives and communicating with others.
They are creative in finding solutions to any problems encountered by their children.
Creating distractions from their kids' meltdowns
Cooking something out of nothing,
They perform with their children, many artistic roles.
From handicrafts to entertainment, comedian, singer, and dancer
They are the ultimate Project managers!
Queen of logistics from birthday parties to holidays gathering, even if they disagree.
For these mums, creativity is a daily thing that still needs to be named as such. And that's the relationshift that I invited them to do.
Creativity is connecting the dots between things and seeing possibilities where others don't.
It allows space for imagination and flexible thinking to take over fear and doubt.
The joy of creativity is available to any of us, which allows it to take over and show us a new path.
What path are you willing to take today and allow your joy of creativity?
